WHO AM I? David Gilberts, Virtual Chief Information Security Officer (vCISO), at Gilberts Cyber in Bend, Oregon.

WHAT MAKES ME UNIQUE? I began my career in the United States Marine Corps (USMC) as a Communications Officer (Captain) where I held a top secret security clearance and managed a team of 300+ Marines responsible for securing networks and systems throughout Southeast Asia in support of the 30,000+ Marines in the 3d Marine Division. Since serving in the Marine Corps, I have continued to focus on maximizing the effectiveness of my clients’ cybersecurity posture in positions at AT&T, CERFnet, Electric Lightwave, Inc. (ELI, now Zayo), Gilberts Communications, Infonet (BT), MCI, Novacoast, Level 3 & Qwest (now Lumen), Spectrum Enterprise, STV, SubRosa Cyber, XO, TCG, and Optiv.

MY APPROACH: My approach is based on experience, integrity, attention to detail, and common sense. I thoroughly assess my clients’ unique and specific cybersecurity needs and tailer my services to fit those needs.

EXPERIENCE: I have 30+ years of experience focused on creating cybersecurity solutions that address unique client business, technical, legal, network, and security challenges and continuously stay abreast of business, cybersecurity, and legal developments that may affect my clients’ interests.

EDUCATION: Juris Doctor (JD, Law), Seattle University School of Law; Master of Business Administration (MBA), University of Maryland University College; Master of Science (MS) in Cybersecurity, University of Maryland Global Campus, and Bachelor of Science (BS) in Political Science, University of Oregon.
